Read: How Social Loafing Is Studied in Psychology
Social loading is about the tendency of an individual to put forth less effort when they're part of a group.
It's because everyone in the group are pooling their effort to achieve a common goal, so nobody actually put in their best effort beause they think the other people in the group will do.
Reality connected: In a team where there's an individual that do their job far better than other team members, the other members (some of them) will more likely to not putting their best work to the team anymore, because if they don't do that, there's still a guy who can carry them all, and if they do put their best, it might still being outperformanced by that guy.
